Step 5 of 5
Decide how you will respond to Jesus.
For four days we have remained with one question. Today it becomes yours.
Watch: Who Do You Say Jesus Is? – Day 5.
Watch the companion video, then continue reading to examine the biblical testimony in its full context.
Who do you say Jesus is?
Not what your family says. Not what your church, former church, favorite author, professor, friend, or social feed says. What conclusion are you presently living by?
Your Functional Answer.
We answer Jesus not only with sentences but with allegiance.
A person may call Jesus “Lord” while treating His words as optional. Another may claim uncertainty while earnestly reading, asking, and moving toward the light available to them. The label alone does not reveal the entire answer. Our posture toward Jesus exposes what we believe His authority deserves.
If He is merely a teacher, we may select the lessons we prefer. If He is a prophet, we should ask who sent Him and what message He carries. If He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, then His claims concern every human life—including yours.
An Honest Starting Point.
You do not need to pretend that your answer is stronger than it is. The Gospels include confusion, slow understanding, misplaced expectations, fear, doubt, failure, and restored faith among Jesus’ own disciples.
Honesty is better than borrowed certainty. But honest uncertainty should become a reason to investigate, not a permanent shelter from decision.
Write down your current answer:
“I believe Jesus is…”
Then write why. What evidence, experience, assumption, wound, hope, or authority shaped that conclusion?
A Journey Open to Correction.
Peter gave the right confession, but his understanding still required correction. He would resist Jesus’ prediction of the cross. He would later deny knowing Jesus. Yet Jesus did not abandon him. The disciple who answered correctly still needed to learn what his answer meant.
That gives us a healthy posture for the days ahead: conviction joined with humility. We come ready to hear Jesus correct both our unbelief and our religious assumptions.
Your answer today is a starting point, not the final page. Keep it. When you reach Day 365, return to it and ask what changed as you encountered Jesus through His own words.
Pense nisto.
Complete this sentence without hiding behind vague language: “I believe Jesus is…” (Matthew 16:13–17) Why do you answer that way?
Responda.
Write your present answer honestly. Then ask God to correct, deepen, or overturn it as you continue through Jesus’ words.
What This Means for Your Life.
Jesus does not leave His identity as a trivia question or a secondhand opinion. In Matthew 16:13–17, the issue is personal: who you say He is matters because it shapes how you live. If Jesus is only a teacher, you can pick and choose. If Jesus is only a Prophet, you can decide to accept or reject prophecies, but If He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, then His words deserve more than admiration; they call for trust, repentance, and allegiance.
One way to respond today is to write out your honest answer to the sentence, “I believe Jesus is…” Don’t copy a religious phrase you think sounds right. Name what you actually think, and then ask what has shaped that view—family, disappointment, research, habits, fear, or hope. If you are unsure, that honesty is not failure. It can be the beginning of real searching.
And if you already believe Jesus is who He claimed to be, remember that even Peter needed correction and growth. Following Jesus is not pretending you understand everything at once; it is being willing to let Him correct you.
Reflection question: What would change in your decisions this week if Jesus is not merely an idea, but the One with authority over your life?
